Where Maui’s Spirit Meets the Sea

For more than half a century, the Mana Kai Maui Resort has stood as a timeless retreat along the golden sands of Keawakapu Beach in Kihei — a place where the beauty of the island meets the warmth of community.

Founded in 1973 by Captain Jim Christman, a visionary United Airlines pilot, Mana Kai Maui was created with a pioneering idea: to offer travelers not just a place to stay, but a place to belong. Christman envisioned a collection of oceanfront condominiums where guests could live the true Maui experience — with full-size kitchens, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and private lanais that open to the sound of the sea.

From the beginning, each residence was designed to frame the island’s natural splendor — with sweeping views of West Maui, Kahoʻolawe, and Lānaʻi — and to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

Today, the Association of Apartment Owners of the Mana Kai Maui Resort continues that legacy as proud stewards of this cherished shoreline. What began as a visionary dream has become a beloved tradition — a place where generations of visitors return to reconnect with the ocean, the land, and the spirit of aloha that lives in every sunrise over Keawakapu Beach.

A Legacy of Aloha

Through the years, Mana Kai Maui has gracefully evolved — blending modern comforts with the same timeless values that have always defined it: authentic aloha, an unbeatable beachfront location, and a welcoming sense of home that makes every stay unforgettable.

Today, guests can choose from beautifully maintained one- and two-bedroom condominiums, each individually owned, thoughtfully furnished, and lovingly styled to reflect the warmth, charm, and spirit of island living.

The Perfect Location

Set on one of Maui’s most breathtaking stretches of sand, Keawakapu Beach, Mana Kai Maui Resort offers crystal-clear waters, soft golden sand, and a coral reef teeming with marine life — perfect for snorkeling, swimming, and soaking up the sun.

Whether you’re gazing out at the sunset over the Pacific, walking the nearly one-mile-long shoreline, or simply listening to the ocean from your lanai, every moment here connects you to the natural beauty and tranquility of Maui.

A Community of Individual Owners

Mana Kai Maui Resort is proudly owned, operated and cared for by 98 individual condominium owners, together forming the Association of Apartment Owners (AOAO). United by a shared love for this remarkable stretch of coastline, our community has spent more than five decades preserving the beauty, comfort, and spirit that make Mana Kai Maui such a special place.

Because each condo is individually owned, all reservations and rental inquiries must be made directly with the condo owner or their rental agent. The on-site front desk is staffed by our resort employees who can provide guest services during your stay, but cannot assist with questions about availability, rates, or booking a unit. Guests who wish to stay at the Mana Kai should contact the owner or rental representative of the condo they are interested in.

Here, hospitality isn’t just a tradition — it’s a way of life. Every owner, guest, and team member plays a part in maintaining the atmosphere of genuine aloha that defines our home on Keawakapu Beach.

From sunrise swims to sunset dinners, Mana Kai Maui Resort remains — as it has since 1973 — a timeless retreat where travelers come to relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect with the true spirit of Hawai‘i.
